Cigarette Burn

This series remains one of the most disturbing for me, as the circular shape looks like a cigarette burn. While Barry (the rapist) did not burn me, I felt like anything could have happened that night.

Years later, working in a battered women’s shelter, I met a woman whose husband had burned her back with a cigarette, leaving distinct scars.
